and zinc(II) from chloride solutions OLGA N. KONONOVA*, NATALIYA S. KARPLYAKOVA and EVGENIYA V. DUBA Institute of NonFerrous Metals and Material Science, Siberian Federal University, 660041 Krasnoyarsk, Svobodny Pr., 79 Russian Federation (Received 17 December 2014, revised 22 January, accepted 19 February 2015)
The zinc is extracted from the solution with D2EHPA from ammonia–ammonium chloride solution. Other minor metal ions viz. calcium, magnesium and manganese are coextracted to some extent which are scrubbed with zinc chloride solution. Finally, zinc is stripped with its spent electrolyte to get pure solution for the metal recovery.
In order to stabilise the conditions of electrolytic extraction of zinc in an acidic medium and in the presence of metal impurities, a surfaceactive compound containing a perfluoroalkyl group linked to a polyoxyethylene, amine oxide or betaine hydrophilic group is added to the electrolyte.

Introduction During electrodeposition of Zn from an electrowinning solution containing a large amount of sulfuric acid, hydrogen evolution occurs on the cathode only at low current densities. With an increase in the current density, Zn deposition
In the present paper, a review has been made for the extraction and separation of zinc from the chloride solution using various organic reagents viz. acidic, basic and solvating. The paper highlights the extraction of zinc from complex chloride solution containing different impurities, in particular kinetics and mechanism of extraction, species ...
A good zinc electrodeposition on mild steel surface could be obtained in the acid zinc chloride solution using either the cassava juice or the sugar cane juice extract alone. However, the combination of the two gives a far better synergistic result. REFERENCES: Adaniya, T., .
Electrowinning of zinc from zinc chloride solutions, acidified by HCl, was conducted in a cation exchange membrane cell. The current efficiency was correlated with the deposit morphology. The...
The invention provides methods of using concentrated zinc chloride to protect zinc powders formed by electrowinning from oxidation during collection and removal from an electrowinning cell, during periods of prolonged storage and during melting. The invention provides a means of flushing zinc powders from all surfaces of an electrowinning cell and transporting and storing the zinc powders ...
The loss factors of zinc chloride and lead chloride are and, which are higher than those of zinc oxide () and lead oxide (), respectively. Research shows that the microwave absorbance of chloride is strong, while that of Zn and Pb oxide is weak in zinc .

The electrowinning of zinc from zinc chloride has received attention for about a century and has been performed under different conditions, on different scales and with different cell designs. Experimental results have been used to validate and discuss the existing knowledge critically, indicating that scaleup causes an increased cell potential.
Dec 07, 1982· The solvent extraction separation and recovery of copper and zinc from complex chloride liquors; those resulting from the low temperature chlorination and leach of a copperleadzinc sulphide ore or concentrate; are described, including the selection of sequence, conditions, extractants, scrubbing and stripping media and adaptations for electrowinning and recycle.
Zinc electrowinning tests on industrial sulfate solution have been carried out by using Pb alloy anodes and by adding organic depolarizers such as ethanol, acetic acid or ethylene glycol. Experiments on chloride solutions, obtained by purification of zinc exhausted electrolyte, have been performed by using DSA anodes and by testing the effect ...
THE ROLE OF COPPER AND ANTIMONY ADDITIVES IN THE REMOVAL OF COBALT FROM ZINC SULPHATE SOLUTIONS: V. Van der Pas, D. Dreisinger, University of British Columbia, Department of Metals and Materials Engineering, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6T 1Z4 Canada Zinc sulphate electrolyte used for zinc electrowinning must be purified for cobalt ions.
The EZINEX® Process allows the recovery of high purity zinc in cathode form from these materials, together with regeneration of the leach liquor. The process is based on a new electrochemical system which depolarises the anode reaction with reduction of the cell voltage, compared with the traditional sulphate electrolysis method.
Zinc smelting is the process of converting zinc concentrates (ores that contain zinc) into pure zinc. Zinc smelting has historically been more difficult than the smelting of other metals, iron, because in contrast, zinc has a low boiling temperatures typically used for smelting metals, zinc is a gas that will escape from a furnace with the flue gas and be lost, unless specific ...
A previous report described preliminary, smallscale work on the fusedsalt electrolysis of zncl2. The present report covers a more detailed investigation of the properties of zncl2alkali metal chloride electrolyte systems in relation to the production of zinc metal and also discusses electrolysis in largescale, internally heated cells.
Using massloss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance measurements under anodic regime, the corrosion behaviour of leadsilver (%) electrode in zinc electrowinning solution containing different concentration of chloride anions was studied. The results revealed that the rate of corrosion does not monotonically increase with concentration.
obtained product is a suitable zinc sulfate solution for electrowining. Effluent from the ion exchange containing chloride takes thermal decomposition to produce hydrochloric acid iron oxide. Purified Material of Solvent extraction is used to produce hydrochloric acid. Fig. 1 Metsep process for recovery of zinc from spent solution of
Jun 22, 2018· Zinc oxide is mixed with powdered coke and heated to 1673 K in a fire clay retort, in which zinc oxide is reduced to zinc metal. Purification Zinc is purified by electrolytic refining.
Secondary zinc sources such as Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAFD), Waelz oxides, galvanizing A, tyre ashes, spent batteries, etc. are becoming, nowadays, more a zinc source than a residue. MZP applied on these raw materials4–10 has been demonstrated to be a viable solution to recover the zinc content. The MZP copes with the negative effect of the
Four types of electrolytes were used: solutions of Zn, solutions of Zn and Ni, solutions of Zn and Mg, and solutions containing cations of Zn, Ni and Mg. A solution of 60 1 of zinc was prepared by dissolving g of ZnSO 4 .7H 2 O in 1000 mL of distilled water.
